As self-isolation and/or quarantine becomes a reality for many of us, we must do what is safe and sensible at this time. To this end, abiding by the advice from our Mission Centre, World Headquarters, the Ontario Government and the Canadian Government, we at Reaching Out have decided to suspend all in-person gatherings and events for the foreseeable future and until further notice.
We are keenly aware of the impact of the virus and how much we have to guard not only ourselves, but our loved ones. We also know that anyone and everyone is susceptible to at least be a carrier of the virus. We must do everything we can to help stop the spread.
We recommend at this time that everyone utilize self-isolation or social distancing to help prevent the spread of the virus. We understand that this will limit our ability to be visible in the community and to help with our outreach, but we are not alone. Many not-for-profits and community services are also dealing with this. While we believe our outreach is vital, some of those services are more vital in time of crisis.
Also during this time, be sure to live our name and reach out. Social distancing and self isolation can make some people lonely – at any age. A friendly reminder that we are all within a phone call, text, or email away. A surprise ring of the phone, a new email from an old friend or “ding” of a text message can brighten someone’s day and break up the monotony that each day can bring – if we let it. Be vigilant in this.
Finally, while we do not have any timeframe for when gatherings and events will resume, we encourage everyone to sign up for our emails or follow our social channels below to stay up-to-date. We hope that everyone continues to abide by the health regulations put forth by the government and is able to adequately supply themselves.
Take care and we hope that everyone is blessed with good health.
God be with you ’til we meet again.
